Our Interview with a Goddess of Beautiful Design
We love your blog! what inspired you to start blogging?
I started blogging because everyone kept coming to me with questions on my home, how I did this and that, where I got things from, or asking for tips and advice. So I thought I'd share my home and interior passion more widely.
Who would you say is your number one style influence? & where is your go-to place to find inspiration?
Paris Paris Paris. My look is very French, very romantic and glamourous, which makes sense, as a fan of The French Bedroom Company. I also love to trawl Pinterest daily for inspiration, is a guilty pleasure of mine.
We love all your DIY posts! What are your favourite platforms for DIY inspo? And do you have any more DIY projects in the pipeline?
I always have DIY projects in the pipeline. So much so, when I see friends they immediately ask: "So what's your next project?".
We will shortly be giving the kitchen a make-over. It's a small scale project, but will make a difference. The cupboard doors are currently modern and glossy while the pantry cupboard and island are country chic tongue and groove. It's just all mismatched. So I can't wait to bring it altogether. As for my favourite DIY project, it was definitely renovating our terracotta tiles on the kitchen floor. We stencilled the whole floor and it's literally a breath of fresh air. You can see more here.
What are your favourite interior trends of the moment?
Marble and copper. It's so not me, it's quite modern and minimalist, but I totally dig it! Ha! I also like the deep grey and denim paint colours out at the moment. But I'm too much of a moth, I just love light too much to experiment with dark rich colours.
Is there one particular piece you have your heart set on to complete your home?
Yes, I've always wanted, and will one day get, a free standing rolled top bath. One day...!
You go on family day trips to the most wonderful looking places! Where would you recommend for full-blown family fun?
Anywhere out in the open. We are National Trust members so love to pack a picnic and discover new places. I feel totally relaxed when out in the open with my family.
Speaking of family, how do you balance being a mummy and maintaining your blog?
Erm, what balance? Having a job, a family and blogging is manic. I just make sure I do what makes me happy, and if that's what I want then I'm prepared to stay up late at night doing it. I always have to have a holiday booked. That's what keeps me going...it's a work hard, play hard mentality.
With a French hubby, we imagine you are frequently treated with delicious French food, but if you could only indulge in one; French interiors or French cuisine, which would it be and why?
Interiors, all the way. Food is over within minutes. Interiors can be enjoyed forever. And if you find a real gem, as I have done on many markets, then you know they can be treasured and passed down in the family for generations to come.
