We're starting our 2018 Blogger of the Month series with a fresh face, who happens to have a fresh, newly renovated home. Known for her accessible-fashion advice and enviable travel locations and fabulous tips - we chatted to Joanne of Petite Side of Style about her new home, expecting her first baby and what to expect from her in 2018.
Tell us a bit about yourself and home style.
We have just renovated our new home, it has a very modern style. I like to mix different textures and styles throughout. Think marble, velvet with dark blue colours.
You’re expecting your first baby (congrats!) early this year – have you altered your interior style to ease the transition to family life?
Thank you, we’re very excited. Luckily I’ve not changed anything as we knew we were expecting when we started the renovation so kept that in mind throughout the house journey. I was able to decorate our spare room from scratch, it's my favourite room at the moment, grey and white with little hints of pink - very Scandi.
You’ve recently finished major house renovations and your new home is looking wonderful – what would you advise anyone thinking about refurbishing their home?
Firstly don’t live it in whilst the renovations are taking place. We were lucky enough to have somewhere else to stay, it would of been a nightmare otherwise.
Be productive with your time, I left a lot of of things to last minute which led to rushing a few decisions which we will be changing later on.
Experiment, don’t be afraid to paint that crisp white wall navy. You don’t know until you try something.
Which room of your new home is your favourite and why?
The nursery is my favourite room at the moment. It's the only room that is completely finished and I’ve put so much effort into it. I painted it myself, put up all the prints and really thought about what I wanted each corner to look like.
You’ve travelled and documented your travels to many covetable destinations – where’s your favourite holiday destination and why?
My favourite was Thailand. My boyfriend and I spent six weeks travelling and diving. Before I went I had never even tried Thai food, now I love it. It's such a beautiful place to visit, and although it's expensive to travel to, once you’re there everything is so affordable.
When you travel, what is it you miss most about your home?
My own bed. There is nothing quite like getting into your own bed at the end of a long day.
What items are you dreaming of for your home at the moment?
What can we expect from Petit Side of Style (except the exciting new arrival) in 2018?
You can expect a lot of fashion, travel interior and of course baby style. My blog is heavily about fashion, but I like to make sure I upload several interior and travel posts a month too.
