PANTONE, AKA the "world-renowned authority on colour", have declared the Colour Of The Year for 2015. The Pantone Colour Institute arranges a committee each year to meet twice over 12 months they then collaborate on palette concepts and debate trends, which ultimately leads to the selection of a shade that will change our buying behaviours and enhance our lifestyles.
So, without further ado, the Pantone Colour of the Year 2015 is, *Drum roll*… Marsala; which could also be mistaken for an exotic dish on a take-away menu – or an Italian wine, come to think of it – but is in fact a deep red, aubergine-y shade (see above). Pantone describe it better, as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red” that, according to Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Colour Institute, “enriches our mind, body and soul, exuding confidence and stability.” How wonderful, hopefully that's a promise!
Wardrobe wise we're thinking couple this classic, not in your face red, with navy for winter, or, when, if ever, it warms up a pop of hot pink. Maybe red is just not a colour that suits your skin tone, but if you still wanted to show those in the know that, well, you know too - go for marsala coloured leather goods and accessories.
