In the Nude - A Delicate Trend for Spring '13

As cold December days are (hopefully) behind us and we eagerly await the ever-enchanting sight of blossom on the trees, thoughts turn to Spring trends - both for your wardrobe and your home. We're not talking over-optimistic floaty chiffon dress buying time, more a mint coloured cashmere sweater here, a plate of Ladurée macaroons or a blush linen upholstered stool there. But at the core of this pastel palette is nude - a key colour for SS13, and gorgeous neutral base to make sprightly pastels a little more sophisticated and calm.

Clockwise from left - Milly Couture Tweed Cocktail Coat: £643, My Wardrobe. Raoul Taupe Sandra Leather Clutch: £274, My Wardrobe. Boho Beauty Full Length French Mirror: £275. Powder Room Pouffe: £255. Moschino Cheap & Chic Metallic Leather High Court Shoes: £320, My Wardrobe.

Vogue refer to the SS13 catwalk as "one of the sweetest seasons we've seen... appealing to our sweet sartorial tooth with spearmint, fondant pink, violet, lemon and baby-blue shades."

Butter London's 2013 collection features a stunningly simple, bare "Cuppa", deliciously described as "gorgeous toasted opaque tan crème", and alongside it you'll find saccharine shades like "Kerfuffle", a soft pastel take on bubblegum pink.

One of Dulux's big interior trend predictions for 2013, "Solace", described as "restorative", and "joyful", and featuring delicate pinks and flesh-toned neutrals with flashes of "yellow for a modern interpretation of oil paint against a gilded frame" - a trend we think suits French bedrooms perfectly!

Crown's trend for nude colours is "Mannequin" which they describe as giving "equal balance to sweet and strong colours" - you will apparently see "flesh hues and soft pinks combine with pale greys and a touch of metallic silver to complete a beautifully elegant picture." Definitely a look we are already embracing with the introduction of our ever-popular Sylvia Silver collection of French furniture.

So take inspiration from the fashion and interior trends and lighten the look in your French bedroom, hallway, living area, dining room... with neutral nude tones from peaches to caramels, punctuated with dusky ice-cream coloured pastels. Think of our soft antique cream shabby chic Parisian range of French style furniture or our delicate Delphine collection in antique heavily-distressed white as the base for nude raw linen upholstery, dusky pink throws, and delicate powder pink chandeliers or bed linen, and baby blue spot cushions.
