Wow, I can hardly believe we are over halfway through March already. It’s been such an incredibly short and fast month. My head has been mainly buried in work, with so many exciting designs for the new season, as well as throwing open the windows of my home and giving it a spring clean. I love spring; it brings about an exciting feeling of change and new possibilities – fresh beginnings with worries left in the past.

We have been super busy at The FBC this past month;we have so many fabulous new pieces in the pipeline, which we know you are absolutely going to love. We a grade one listed photographic location just outside Brighton to shoot our new collections, built in the early Georgian era. It was absolutely divine and dripping with architectural features.

The shoot’s theme was Royalcore: a nostalgic nod to the Regency style, whilst looking forward with fresh eyes to spring brights, lighter evenings, colourful gardens and parks. Crocuses below, blossoms above. I cannot wait for you to see the results and to fall in love with them as much as we have.

Speaking of spring brights, we have in fact spent the last few weekends redecorating the front bedroom of our house, from dark and sultry to a fresh, vintage-inspired, Morris & Co floral in pale pink and biscuit. Adding gentle colour in the palest of hues not only makes the room feel much bigger, but lifts my spirits too. They say change is as good as a rest – and I absolutely love this change.

For International Women’s Day, I was honoured to take part in a panel discussion run by She Almighty at The Home Grown Club in London. The infectious energy, enthusiasm and positivity in the room reminded me once again just how beneficial it is to be together again in person, and how formidable women are.

I recommend listening to the She Almighty podcast by Mikaela Jackson and her guests who share how they are living and leading by example to have a positive impact on others. It really is an inspirational listen.

I cannot sign off without mentioning the heart-breaking events that are happening in Europe at the moment. In our hearts and on our minds is the situation in Ukraine, where our hardworking team of web developers are based. Like us, they are a female owned company, strive for excellence in every element of their work, and are a joy to work with. What they are going through right now is unimaginable and we have pledged to support them and their families in any way we can: professionally, personally, financially and emotionally. French at the fore; love at our core.

SUNDAY DISCOVERIES

This Sunday we are sharing all the wonderful things to come from TFBC in spring, which we just know you will be super excited about. We have put lots of time, thought and love into the new collection to ensure it is just perfect for you.

QUILTS

Our Wildflower Quilted Bedspread, ideal for spring

We love our collection of gorgeous quilts. Our current favourites are the stunning botanical-inspired designs, which are perfect for spring. The Wildflower Quilted Bedspread brings a feeling of sunshine and delight – with its tulips, primroses and lilies, it gives a pattern reminiscent of 1970s summer dresses. For the new collection, think stunning pale sage greens (an absolute favourite of ours right now) and dusky pinks, handmade in India by a family business.

CANDLES

No matter the time of year, there is just something delightful and relaxing about lighting a candle. The dreamy smell and the ambience they create immediately bestow a sense of calm, and we are so excited about our new offerings, coming soon. As well as a fragrant collaboration with Kew Gardens, we will also be adding intriguing new designs in evocative, sculpted shapes. Spoiler alert: think artichoke bulbs, twisted marshmallows, and Zaha Hadid architectural structures. If you can’t wait until then, we still have some luxurious scented candles that are divine. We particularly love the Peppermint & Eucalyptus Triple Wick Candle, the scented combination is refreshing and energising – perfect for spring.

FRENCH BEDS

Well, it wouldn’t be a new collection without stunning new French beds, and we have an amazing eight new beds coming this spring – which we cannot contain our excitement about! A little reveal for you: We are really injecting the spring theme into these beds; two are magnificent French upholstered beds in botanical archive prints in myriad shades of green on a cream linen. There will also be one more vintage print featuring garden roses, buddleia and wisteria.

In a very first of TFBC kind, we are launching a bed with a reversible headboard. This striking bed comes with a pale blue and white stripe on one side and a floral pattern in the same tones of colour on the other, allowing you to match the aesthetic of your bedroom as your mood, the seasons, the trends, or your guests, change.

We have new colourways on the way for our ever-popular Love Story Collection: think palest pink silk, and fawn linen. The Love Story Collection already has some gorgeous pieces for spring, such as the Love Story Olive Velvet Finial Bed.

BRUNCH WITH… VICTORIA

This week we are very excited to catch up with our friend Victoria over at @cherryvintagehome. Victoria is a business owner with a passion for vintage interiors, and whose images of her 17th Century country cottage regularly make us swoon.

1) Describe your perfect Sunday
My perfect Sunday is going back to bed with cups of tea, and the children jumping in for a cuddle. Then, a mooch around an antique market, followed by a roast! I love having a house full, and cooking a big Sunday roast for family and friends.

2) What are your favourite pyjamas like?
My favourite pjs are simple, white, super soft, and 100% cotton. They are made with two layers of muslin and are so comfortable. I love natural fibres, especially to sleep in - which is why I love your Lisbon Bed Linen so much!!

3) What’s your go-to midnight snack?
Tunnocks Tea Cakes - you know, the old-fashioned ones with a biscuit base, marshmallow and covered in chocolate. Yum! Always with a cup of Earl Grey tea!

4) Do you have any recurring dreams?
I don’t have exactly have recurring dreams, but I do keep having random dreams about weddings lately… We’re finally getting married this July after two Covid cancelled weddings so I think that might have something to do with it!

5) What’s your favourite family memory?
My favourite family memory is bringing our daughter Etta home for the first time to meet her big brother! Huxley was so little himself, just under two. He immediately wanted to cuddle her, said “I love her” and then burst into tears. Apart from the crying, it was honestly the cutest moment ever!
